In 1964, he scrawled a haiku on a popular bathroom wall in downtown Montreal:
MARITA, PLEASE FIND ME
I AM ALMOST THIRTY
Two decades before Lennon’s death, Leonard’s Cuban adventure may well have brought him in contact with CIA assassin Marita Lorenz, whose memoir Dear Fidel offers some fascinating insights into how the CIA went about recruiting young people before and after the Bay of Pigs fiasco. As a child, Marita Lorenz had survived Buchenwald concentration camp. In 1959 at age 19 she joined her father, a German-Jewish sea captain, on a trans-Atlantic cruise that brought them to the harbour of Havana, where their ship was boarded by a group of revolutionaries including the young Fidel Castro, with whom she began an affair. As Castro’s mistress, Marita ruled the Hotel Habana Libre which became his headquarters a well as a haunt for foreign journalists and CIA agents. In her sixth month of pregnancy, she says, she was abducted, drugged, and forced to have an abortion – after which the CIA apparently persuaded her to help assassinate her former lover. At the last moment, she flushed the poison, which she had hidden in a jar of cream, down the toilet of her hotel room –
In Field Commander Cohen, Leonard alludes vaguely to having been part of the pre-invasion hotel scene in revolutionary Havana:
Field Commander Cohen was our most important spy
Parachuting acid into diplomatic cocktail parties
Telling Fidel Castro to abandon fields and castles
And like a man come back to poetry

In A BUNCH OF LONESOME HEROES, he refers to a shadowy band of “heroes” who, having committed some unmentionable crime, are now quarrelling over the spoils. The youngest member of the band, presumably Cohen, starts to speak up: “I’d like to tell my story…” he sings, “before I turn to gold.” Later he would go platinum. Before we get to hear his confession, however, the song turns nonsensical… “And I sing this for the crickets…” Who were these lonesome heroes, and what did they do that was “so very wrong” that he can’t even mention it? When was the song written? Sometime after the Bay of Pigs and the assassination of Kennedy, alleged to have been carried out by the same soldiers of fortune sent by Dulles to kill Castro. Dulles, of course, hated Kennedy – another story.
Soon after the Cuban fiasco, Leonard wrote to his brother in law Edgar, who lived in Miami, reassuring him of his deep-rooted anti-communism.
Years later, when Leonard was a student of the Roshi, he was given a famous koan which for years he was unable to answer. “Kyogen Hangs from a Branch” describes a Zen master who one day walked off a cliff and, to save himself, grabbed hold of a branch that was growing from the edge of the precipice. In his hands he happened to be carrying precious scriptures, so he held on to the branch by his teeth. Just then, a young monk came by and asked him to explain the meaning of the Holy Dharma. Obliged to respond, Kyogen faced a terrible dilemma. No Zen Master is allowed to remain silent when asked a question by a sincere student. On the other hand, if he opened his mouth, he would fall to his death on the rocks far below.
What is more important: saving your life, or telling the truth?
For years on Mount Baldy, Leonard Cohen struggled with this koan. In 1999, on his 65th birthday, he finally left, after being ordained and receiving the Japanese name Jikan, which (I was told) means “he who does not speak.”Ann Diamondhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09313296238122232516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3508979037044886300.post-28611610557944850052012-06-29T01:39:16.882-07:002012-06-29T01:39:16.882-07:00It was not the first time Leonard Cohen was at the...It was not the first time Leonard Cohen was at the scene of a traumatic event involving terror and the CIA. He got his start as a young man at McGill, in the covert program known as MKULTRA, which continued evolving over several decades. In 1956-7 he went to Columbia for further programming. Then came Cuba, the Bay of Pigs, 1961 – his first time out in the field. Later, Greece just before the Colonels took over. In 1973, he travelled to Israel just ahead of the Yom Kippur War, and ended up sitting in a trench with Ariel Sharon.
What all these events have in common is that they secret military intelligence operations, but you could say Cohen’s presence in the Yom Kippur War (in a trench with Ariel Sharon) indicates a change of allegiance. And that the concert in Tel Aviv on the eve of Lennon’s death represents another strategic step …
The songs FIELD COMMANDER COHEN and FIRST WE TAKE MANHATTAN offer insight into the mind of the young operative who found the perfect cover as a folksinger. Cohen’s family background was military, making him a prime candidate for mind control. When he left Hydra and travelled to NY in December 1980, he did so secretly. More than likely he was carrying a package picked up two weeks before, at the time of his concert in Tel Aviv. Probably the package contained money, which could explain why Mark David Chapman, known to be totally broke at the time, had about $2600 in his pocket when he was arrested for the murder of John Lennon.
It would have been a decisive moment in the career of a Canadian singer who had just lost his recording contract with Columbia Records. Fact and fiction coexist nervously in Cohen’s life and art. The boundaries have always been a little murky, as befits a man who knows dangerous secrets.Ann Diamondhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09313296238122232516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3508979037044886300.post-76474512746474849782012-06-29T01:34:53.834-07:002012-06-29T01:34:53.834-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Ann Diamondhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09313296238122232516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3508979037044886300.post-41601047246718585532011-09-04T00:36:31.079-07:002011-09-04T00:36:31.079-07:00Bwahahahaha! >.< I knew I should've put ...Bwahahahaha! >.< I knew I should've put in that colon to indicate time! :P

Damn right they're confusing! Now I'm gonna do a bit of research to see if I can find any links at all between RR's assassination attempt, Lennon and McLean's deaths. I'm also reminded by all of this of yet another murder in which a woman was also decapitated by a man who (yet again) looked like he was in some sort of trance! http://tgr.ph/qroXwo I dunno if this case is unrelated to mind control, but if it is, that'll mean that those crazy suckers have Nish'ta controlled psychos walking all of the place, they themselves unsuspecting anything! :S

Btw, you know how in your other post you posted about LC being deprived of sensory stimulation and he found it "relaxing"? Well, that also got me thinking: what if people "chosen" for these "experiments" were chosen because of attributes such as sensitivity and being easily hyperstimulated by what would be to most people "normal" levels of stimuli? ??? (I don't think that made any sense though...)

So if they chose a potential assassin who was very sensitive to their surroundings, deprived them of all sensory stimulation, then (as LC said) they found it relaxing and hence their minds more open to control/manipulation, then... I dunno... wouldn't they be more likely to respond to any given commands at long-distance? It wouldn't have to be a "shock" so much as a sensory "shock" of this sudden "god-like voice" telling them what to do, and then them being so used to the calm and quiet, they'd just want to do anything to stop it? (Likewise carrying out the actions to stop themselves from noticing "key words/phrases" everywhere???) Wouldn't that drive most people insane?

Anyway, I'm off to do more research on this! ^^ And I got me last 3 uni vet hospital rotations for next week! Nooooo... Do you have any good sites to start me off???

So if LC did turn religious for the sake of covering up his own tracks, he could've been blackmailed, as you said, right??? Which could explain his flee from Hydra, Stephen King's alleged photo only hours before Lennon's assassination etc. Maybe it all snow-balled too quickly for LC and he did the only sane thing he could think of -- getting the hell out of there with his family. As for the Mark Chapman/Stephen King confusion, could that have been a deliberate distraction away from the real suspect and hence subtle events leading up to Lennon's death???

So Lennon was a potential threat with the entire peace activism to those suckers. :S That message sounds rather creepy. Now it's gotten me wondering if Lennon's death was also a prelude to something bigger (a bigger, more destructive assassination in year to come) or not? Almost like some sort of test/experiment "If we manage to kill this man, then we can progress onto the 'real' big thing we were planning. If not, we need more time..."???

(Or am I just getting everything wrong and need to go to bed and stop listening to the Andrews Sisters 'cause it's already 2300...)Ferus Accaliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12094116022503010419noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3508979037044886300.post-71769573215773528482011-09-03T01:47:57.801-07:002011-09-03T01:47:57.801-07:00I dunno, GA. It's anybody's guess but something tells me the "guest list" at Lennon's assassination included Stephen King, dressed up as Mark Chapman -- but I don't think King shot Lennon. I do, however, believe there were triggers in Newsweek headlines and articles, because on Hydra a week or two later, LC showed me the copy of Newsweek, with the "Reagan's IN, Lennon's OUT" message.

At the time, I didn't understand his love of RR. Why would a cynical, worldly-wise guy like LC love a president who has just been elected, who has not done anything yet? I found it embarrassing... and depressing.

If you check out some of the Lennon sites, you'll see evidence the FBI was out to get Lennon for his political views (left-wing) and his peace activism. At the time, as well (I only found this out recently), JL and Mick Jagger were talking about forming a political movement that would work for peace. Lennon's death put a stop to that plan.

Interesting point, about "religious fundamentalism" serving to cover up guilt. IMHO, those on the guest list might not have known in advance what sort of event was being planned. There's an element of blackmail involved. i.e. Keep your mouth shut or we'll release your photo to the press ...

as apparently happened with King.Ann Diamondhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09313296238122232516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3508979037044886300.post-50536862792020256852011-08-27T16:06:36.830-07:002011-08-27T16:06:36.830-07:00So, let me get this straight...

Makes me think now of all of the "undercover" assassins running around. What would happen if their triggers were set off prematurely by the same triggers but in a different location? Like, something on a billboard sign, something obscure. Would they still attempt to carry out what they were programmed to do and end up causing an even bigger commotion?

If Leonard was on any guest list, that would partially explain why he suddenly got so religious and withdrawn -- he wouldn't have wanted anyone he couldn't 100% brainwash to be associated with him anymore. Sad though. What people can make of their lives just to be part of murder (even if they weren't directly involved).

I dunno... Maybe Lennon's personality and world view was an active threat to the people who planned his death? As though they didn't want his message to be spread across any further?

OK, rambling done for now :SFerus Accaliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12094116022503010419noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3508979037044886300.post-73917296254727532142011-08-18T01:17:15.079-07:002011-08-18T01:17:15.079-07:00Very insightful, GA.
